Touring Milwaukee’s Breweries and Distilleries
My mom and I are meeting up next weekend, so being the lover of maps that I am, I assigned myself the task to find a place that 1. is a relatively fair drive for both of us and 2. has fun things to do.
For a moment, I considered Wauwatosa to re-create our statue moment
But deep down, I knew I wanted to find some sort of beverage tour, so naturally, I asked yelp what to do. Here’s what I found:
Free tours at Great Lakes Distillery and for an extra $5 get a flight of 5 products to sample!
Free tours at MillerCoors Brewing, but I get the feeling that samples are not complementary.
$5 tours ($3 for minors) at Sprecher Brewery and $15 reserve tastings (10 samples with cheese pairings, all adult atmosphere)
$7 tours at Lakefront Brewery (this is our favorite brewery tour, it’s also the first brewery Shane and I visited together, awwwww, and the only one we’ve done in Milwaukee, twice!)
$10 tours at Milwaukee Brewing Co. and a 2-hour open house on Saturday evenings.
$8 beer history tours at the Historic Pabst Brewery, which includes at 16 oz. Pabst or Schlitz tap… tempting, no?
Water Street Brewery tours seem rather mysterious. No dates, times, or prices listed, just a phone number to arrange a tour with the Brewmaster. They have three locations: Downtown Milwaukee, Grafton, and Lake Country.
Big Bay Brewing seemed worth mentioning for their tasting room and brewery store, but I don’t see anything about tours.
Horny Goat Brewing Co. offers free samples M-F at their brewpub, as well as happy hour and daily specials. And who isn’t intrigued by Big Band Sunday Brunch!? I didn’t find any tours.
Join the Mug Club at St Francis Brewing Co. and get exclusive invitations to their monthly tapping and other freebies and discounts. Check out their happy hours M-F.
Stonefly Brewery doesn’t offer tours (as far as I could find) but check out their menu (yum) and events page (fun)!
If you just need to get off your feet and have a drink, check out Milwaukee Ale House, I may have actually been here before, but that memory is a bit fuzzy. If it’s the place I’m thinking of, it’s pretty fun. Wide beer selection, and happy hour specials that will make the wallet smile.
Well, I think that’s 11 reasons for you to come visit and head to Milwaukee for another adventure. Can I expect you soon!?
